day two - holiday...

After 25 years of searching (well after being born, pre-pubesance and the teenage years, maybe five) for a girl that a) fancied me b) realised I wasn't normal and c) didn't mind that I was English I found a lass that wanted to bear my children.
Whilst listening to music on holiday I hear a band that reminds me not only of the wedding day (big wheel) but of the courtship preceding it. What hits me is the differences in sentiment that rushes the memories upon a listening some ten years later. Massive Attack played a bit part in my early days in Australia, mostly related to hip gyration and horizontal dancing... Now, upon replay and reflection, with children and responsibility beyond imagination (who can ever be prepared for the responsibility of three new lives?) the music carries a whole new sentiment: what has been lost, only to have been replaced by a different joy. Sure, being a Dad is challenging, but the journey as a family is harder. Remember, Mum was free once... She had no kids, a well paid job, time to party. Reflect on the five years (min) where you and she have hardly spoken, where any conversation is based on kids distribution to sports, parties or just getting them bathed and to bed.
Music brings back or even adjusts emotion.
Keep it in your life, let it help you if and when you need it. Always look back in your collection, never stop listening to new music, it refreshes and reminds...
